This 1929 Tudor home in Rye, NY was in tired shape and we brought color, texture, and pattern into play to liven it up. We sourced antiques and consignment pieces wherever possible and reupholstered existing pieces.
We used Fermoie prominently throughout our living room design, where we really needed warmth and texture to brighten up the space. Specifically, we designed custom slipper chairs in front of the fireplace and chose to upholster them in Wicker to complement the handmade cane coffee table that anchors the room. We also chose a Wicker lampshade for the vintage lamp on the console to tie that colour and feeling to the other side of the room. We found a large banquette at a consignment shop upholstered in a loud animal print. We loved the shape and size of the piece but knew it needed a different fabric. Aylsham works to add lightness and comfort to a large piece of upholstery. Finally, Shell Grotto appears on a throw pillow on the gold velvet sofa -adding a little whimsy and texture to that piece.
